Hi, I’m Atiya
Welcome. I offer yoga classes, yoga teacher mentoring and Thai massage in Madrid and online to help you relieve stress, feel grounded and find a supportive community.
What I do
I offer group yoga classes, private yoga classes and yoga retreats to all levels, including absolute beginners, for people to feel a sense of empowerment by taking care of themselves, alongside growing a community.
I also support yoga teachers through 1:1 mentoring, helping you build confidence in your teaching, refine your sequences and find your voice - whether you’re just starting out, taken a break or feeling a bit stuck.
Alongside this, I share simple, sustainable wellbeing tools through my online resources and programs, with a focus on stress-free living, vegetarian-friendly ideas and mindset support, so you can bring more calm and energy into everyday life.
As a former lawyer and primary school teacher, I know how it feels to be stressed and anxious. I use my experience in yoga, nutrition and naturopathy, combining mindful movement and mindset through yoga, breathing exercises, nutrition, massage and relaxation to create a welcoming, supportive and guided environment to help you feel better physically and mentally.

Moving to a new city can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re navigating life in a language that isn’t your own. Finding spaces where you feel understood, welcomed, and supported becomes essential—not just for your physical wellbeing, but for building a sense of belonging. At Atiyasana, we’ve created exactly that: a thriving international yoga community in the heart of Madrid where English is the primary language, connection is cultivated, and every student is seen as an individual.
Whether you’re an expatriate adjusting to life in Spain, an international student seeking grounding practices, or a professional looking for a supportive wellness space, our yoga classes in Madrid in English offer more than just movement. With over 12 years of experience supporting expats and yoga teachers from around the world, Atiya Khan has built a sanctuary where yoga, community, and personal growth intersect naturally.
Find Your English-Speaking Yoga Community in Madrid
One of the most common challenges expatriates face when relocating to Madrid is finding authentic spaces where they can practice yoga without language barriers. While many studios offer excellent classes in Spanish, the subtle cues, philosophical explanations, and emotional support that come from practicing in your native language can transform your experience entirely.
Our yoga studio in Madrid English-speaking environment welcomes practitioners from more than 25 different nationalities, creating a uniquely diverse and inclusive atmosphere. The community extends far beyond the mat—through post-class social events, weekend gatherings, and shared experiences that help you build genuine friendships. Many of our members arrive knowing no one in the city and leave with a close-knit circle of friends who share their values and lifestyle.
The international yoga community Madrid residents have come to trust isn’t just about convenience; it’s about creating a home away from home. We understand the specific needs of expatriates: the cultural adjustment, the occasional loneliness, the desire for meaningful connections. Our classes are intentionally designed to address these needs, combining physical practice with emotional support and social integration.
Why Practice Yoga in English?
Practicing yoga in your native language allows you to fully immerse yourself in the experience without mental translation. You can focus entirely on your breath, alignment, and inner awareness rather than decoding instructions. This is particularly valuable for beginners who need clear, nuanced guidance to build confidence and safety in their practice.
For expatriates, group yoga classes Madrid English offerings provide a structured way to meet like-minded people. The shared experience of moving through sequences together, supporting each other in challenging poses, and sharing reflections afterward creates bonds that extend into lasting friendships. Our members frequently describe the studio as their "Madrid family"—a place where they feel understood not just as yoga practitioners, but as individuals navigating the complexities of expat life.
Beyond the social benefits, practicing yoga in English ensures you receive complete explanations of alignment principles, breathing techniques, and philosophical concepts. This depth of understanding accelerates your progress and helps you develop a sustainable, lifelong practice that serves you both on and off the mat.

Each style serves different needs and energy levels. Hatha classes provide a slower-paced, alignment-focused practice perfect for building strength and flexibility gradually. Vinyasa flows link breath with movement in dynamic sequences that build heat and cultivate presence. Mindfulness sessions incorporate meditation and gentle movement, ideal for stress relief and mental clarity.
All classes welcome students of every level, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. Our teachers provide modifications and variations for each pose, ensuring everyone can practice safely and effectively. The atmosphere is non-competitive and supportive—perfect for those who may feel intimidated by traditional gym environments.
Private Yoga Classes Madrid English Options
For those seeking personalized attention, private yoga classes Madrid English sessions offer one-on-one guidance tailored to your specific goals, injuries, or limitations. These sessions are ideal for beginners who want to build confidence before joining group classes, individuals recovering from injuries, or practitioners looking to deepen specific aspects of their practice.
Private sessions also serve as excellent preparation for our yoga teacher mentorship program, allowing aspiring teachers to refine their personal practice and understand alignment principles deeply before learning to teach others.
Meet and Connect: Social Events After Every Class
What truly sets our community apart is the emphasis on connection beyond the physical practice. After each group class, members are invited to join informal social gatherings at nearby cafes. These post-class meetups have become a cornerstone of our community, transforming acquaintances into friends and creating a support network that extends far beyond yoga.
International yoga community Madrid events include monthly potluck dinners, weekend hiking excursions, cultural exploration outings, and seasonal celebrations. These gatherings provide natural opportunities to practice Spanish in low-pressure settings while maintaining your English-speaking support system. Many members report that these social connections have been instrumental in their successful integration into Madrid life.
The benefits of group practice for expats extend well beyond physical health. Regular participation in our community has been shown to reduce feelings of isolation, accelerate language learning through bilingual friendships, and provide practical support for navigating life in Spain—from finding apartments to understanding bureaucratic processes.
Thai Massage and Wellness Services Offered
Complementing our yoga offerings, Thai massage Madrid services provide deep relaxation and therapeutic benefits. This ancient healing practice combines acupressure, assisted stretching, and energy work to release tension, improve flexibility, and restore balance to body and mind.
Our massage therapist English-speaking Madrid professional brings extensive training in traditional Thai massage techniques, offering sessions tailored to your specific needs. Whether you’re dealing with chronic back pain from desk work, recovering from intense physical activity, or simply seeking deep relaxation, Thai massage provides profound benefits.
The integration of Thai massage with yoga practice creates a synergistic effect—yoga builds strength and awareness, while massage releases deep-seated tension and accelerates recovery. Many of our members combine weekly yoga classes with monthly massage sessions as part of their comprehensive wellness routine.

Mentorship for Newly Certified Yoga Teachers – Build Confidence
Completing a 200-hour yoga teacher training is an accomplishment, but many newly certified teachers find themselves asking, "What now?" The gap between certification and confident teaching can feel vast and intimidating. Our yoga teacher mentorship program bridges this gap with personalized support and practical guidance.
What is Yoga Teacher Mentorship?
Yoga teacher mentorship is a one-on-one relationship designed to help new teachers develop the skills, confidence, and clarity needed to teach effectively. Unlike teacher training programs that focus on theory and personal practice, mentorship addresses the real-world challenges of sequencing classes, providing hands-on adjustments, managing different student needs, and finding your authentic teaching voice.
Post 200h yoga mentorship provides structured support during the critical transition from student to teacher. Through regular online sessions, you receive personalized feedback on your teaching, guidance on class planning, and strategies for building your career—whether you aim to teach in your home country or as an expatriate yoga teacher abroad.
Who Is This Program For?
The program serves two primary groups: newly certified yoga teachers seeking practical support, and expatriate teachers navigating the complexities of teaching in foreign countries. Online yoga teacher mentorship makes this support accessible regardless of your location, allowing you to connect with experienced guidance from anywhere in the world.
Common challenges for new yoga teachers include imposter syndrome, difficulty sequencing classes, uncertainty about hands-on adjustments, and questions about ethics and boundaries. Our mentorship addresses each of these areas with compassion and practical tools, helping you build confidence through experience and reflection.
